What students have to say about us
We are proud to have educated more than 250 students responsible for managing many thousands of hectares in managing holistically.
We love hearing how they implement their learning in their own life and environment.

Braidwood, NSW "At the very basic level, we gained a really good understanding of how to build the links between our animals, our soil and nature in managing our farm. The HM information went from the theoretical to very practical information and there was plenty of opportunity for sharing practical information drawing on the wide experience of our fellow students and teachers.
For the first time, we came to understand how all these elements can work together to build sustainability, because that is something that we deeply value. As a huge bonus, we came to understand how this sustainability could be linked to building financial wealth and our relationships. Ultimately, HM as presented through the SoA course gives a very practical approach to working towards triple bottom line results: financial, social and environmental. But as with most areas of worthwhile activity, the more effort you can put into an SoA course the more benefit you will get out. Fully embracing the HM approach will deliver a revolution in your thinking about your farm or enterprises as well as benefits throughout your life. You don't have to change everything at once, but you can embark on a highly satisfying journey towards what you really value in life." |

Grenfell, NSW "Challenging... but definitely the way to go!
My husband suggested I try this Holistic ManagementTM course to 'get up to speed' so that we could start thinking about future directions. It has certainly been invaluable in that regard. But more than that, it is a very practical 'how to' course. Goal setting, land planning, stock management, financial planning, environmental concerns.... all of these things are part of the mix. Spreading the course out over some months gave me time to think it through and try out some of what we were learning. Bonding with a wonderful group of people on the same journey was a great bonus! My husband and daughter have already enrolled for the next course and I am looking forward to sharing their experience and learning with them! |

Warren, NSW I am from a non-farming background and I admit that I was rather nervous about completing a course that was outside my early childhood teaching degree. However, I was relieved to find that the course was designed (and delivered) for all skill levels and was taught at a pace that allowed me to fully understand the content. I surprised myself when I was able to rate my first paddock, understand the 'rule of succession' and complete my first grazing chart. This term, I am even integrating some of the learned biodiversity content into my early childhood curriculum! At home, the course has empowered me to gain a better understanding of my husband's business and has enabled my husband and I to begin to work together, starting with the creation of our own holistic context. I would highly recommend this course to anyone (especially couples) who are wanting to improve their quality of life, improve their business and be more in touch with their environment – all whilst creating the lifestyle they want for themselves and their family. |

Warren, NSW Having done a HM course in 2006 I went into this course thinking that it would be a good refresher and I would pick up stuff that I had missed and forgotten from last time.
How wrong was I, this course is so much more intense and over a lot longer period and I have learnt a lot more than the first time and actually taken it in, the holistic context and grazing charts especially I can see as a very important tool for my business along with the monitoring tools we were taught. |

Barraba, NSW The Certificate of Attainment Course in Holistic Management which we recently completed has had a major impact on our thinking and general approach to agriculture.
The framework provided by the course for analysing situations and making decisions which lead us towards what we REALLY want to achieve is extremely powerful. Armed with knowledge from the course, the prospect of building soil fertility and productivity while at the same time reducing farm input costs is very attractive and is enabling us to look forward to the future with renewed vigour and optimism. |

I found the course in Holistic ManagementTM to be very informative. It provided me with alternatives to current mainstream ways of thinking, put me in contact with ‘like-minded’ people and gave me a new direction, but with further questions to be answered as I put newly developed ideas into practice....step by step

Becoming acquainted with Savory's ideas on holistic managementTM has given me hope that, if we follow his decision making processes, our management of land in Australia may improve and indeed become sustainable - that would be wonderful.

The Statement of Attainment course for Holistic ManagementTM through TAFE is an excellent method to truly understand Holistic Management and to fully absorb yourself in the process of developing your own individual or family’s holistic context. This course takes you from merely being an observer to become an active participant who has the ability to immediately implement the new knowledge and skills.
The course is very comprehensive with a vast array of supporting resources to assist the learning and to ensure it remains practical. The modules are taught in systematic steps that build on acquired knowledge, with the homework supporting the training and providing immediate application to maintain relevance to individual needs. This supports participants understanding of the processes and the required actions needed to stay focused and to achieve what each person really wants. To articulate your deepest desires can be very confronting for some people. For this to then be the foundation for every future decision can be daunting – I found it uplifting, as the process provided incredible focus and clarity of purpose. The financial planning approach - to start with the end in mind - also clarified the change in thinking, and provided the necessary tools to keep you focused. The course provided the resources, skills and knowledge to effectively plan, monitor, control, and replan the future direction of your life.
I had three very specific aims for attending this course: to clarify our family’s holistic context in partnership with my husband – for both my personal business and our farm; to master the grazing charts to maximise the productivity potential of our farm whilst improving our environment, and achieving quality of life; and to understand and implement the financial planning to achieve our future goals. I believe I attained my goals and look forward to honing my skills to achieve the future I want for our family.
